The Braid operates Youth Connect, a free mental health program for youth ages 13-18 in Shelby County. We run Youth Connect with our partner, the Shelby County Youth & Family Resource Center (YFRC).

This page explains what information we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with.

What we collect

When you fill out a form on our website or join Youth Connect, we may ask for:

• Your name, age, and birthday

• Your phone number and email

• Your parent or guardian's name and contact info

• Your ZIP code

• Your preferred language and the best way to reach you

• What you want in a therapist (like in-person or online, or a certain specialty)

• Whether you said yes to getting text messages

We may also collect basic info about how people use our website, like which pages they visit. This helps us improve the site.

How we use it

We use your information to:

• Answer your questions and referrals

• Help you pick a therapist and get connected

• Reach you by text, phone, or email about signing up, scheduling, and program updates

• Ask for your feedback so we can make Youth Connect better

• Follow the law and report on our program

Who we share it with

We only share your information when we need to, to run Youth Connect:

• The therapist you choose. Our therapists are licensed and work in their own practices. We give your contact info to the therapist you pick so they can reach out to you.

• The Shelby County Youth & Family Resource Center (YFRC). YFRC helps us run Youth Connect, so they may see your information to support outreach and programs.

• Tools we use. We use trusted services, like our records system and texting service, to store information and send messages. They can only use your information to help us.

• Funders. We share numbers and summaries, like how many youth we served. We never share information that shows who you are.

• If the law requires it. We may share information if the law requires it or to keep someone safe.

We never sell your information.

Text messages

We do not share your phone number or your text message consent with anyone for marketing. SMS consent is not shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

Keep private information out of texts

Please never share private or personal information by text. This includes things like your feelings, your health, or what's going on at home or school. Our texts are only for things like signing up and scheduling.

Once you are connected with a therapist, your therapist will tell you the safe and private way to share personal information with them.

Keeping your information safe

We work hard to protect your information. Only people who need it to help you can see it. No system is 100% safe, but we take your privacy seriously.

Your choices

• You can ask to see, change, or delete your information by contacting us.

• You can stop getting texts anytime by replying STOP.
