Meet Akosua

Akosua grew up in Arkansas and moved to Memphis in 2010 to attend Rhodes College. She graduated from Rhodes with a Bachelors in International Studies in 2014 and moved to Nashville. After two years in Nashville working with a variety of different cultural groups and populations, she moved back to Memphis in 2016. Now back in Memphis, she got familiar with her old stomping grounds :visiting friends, restaurants, and old hangouts like Cooper Young, Overton Square and Overton Park, Oak Court Mall (RIP) and local bookstores. During that time, she studied at the University of Memphis (Go Tigers!) and received a Masters in Social Work.  After graduation from UofM, she stayed in Memphis working in mental health. Last July, Akosua moved across the state line to Mississippi, and is still getting used to living outside the big city and out in the country. Akosua loves working with youth and adolescents; she loves helping them overcome their problems and achieve their goals. With her caring heart, supportive personality and lofty ambitions, she creates a safe space for you to vent, grow, and work towards your own goals.

How She Can Help

She loves working with teenagers to address big life changes, emotions, anxiety, and depression. I use different methods and techniques to help manage emotions, process their feelings, and find solutions to every problem. I am here to listen and be there for you. You can talk to me about anything!

In Her Free Time

In her free time, Akosua enjoys reading, watching movies, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family. Her next trip is a road trip to Nashville to see Florence and the Machine, one of her favorite artists, this summer. I’m currently reading Dracula by Bram Stoker as a recent gothic horror fan and watching IT: Welcome to Derry. With summer coming soon, I’m hoping to read more, travel, visit my friends in Arkansas, and get outside with my dog, Max, and my partner, John.
